Playing at a Different Level

There are us little fish swimming along in a pond that barely has any water in it, and then there are those who are playing at a completely different level:

I was literally just watching the counter on this tick its way up close to 9 million: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dragonsteel/surprise-four-secret-novels-by-brandon-sanderson?ref=bva2b9

(Note that this is basically self-publishing, but played at a completely different level than most will ever reach.)

  1. Now at over $25 million…definitely next-level O_o But I can relate to one thing – he was talking in the beginning about how much time he DIDN’T have to write books outside of his core series, and had begun to resign himself to it, and had let so many other story ideas begin to wither and die. I definitely feel that about a lot of my story ideas. I’ll write them down, but between work (the kind that pays the bills, which writing definitely isn’t for me yet) and life, I usually have very little time to write. On the other hand, those stories get time to percolate more. Hopefully, when I get around to writing them, they’ll be better for it.

But I did take advantage of 2020 and wrote 3 novels in that time period. That WAS refreshing 😀

    1. Yeah, I definitely have ideas whose time came and went and they’ll never get written because I didn’t write them then and new ideas came along to take their place. And congrats on writing the 3 novels in one year!!
